Germany’s Scholz voices disgust after Abbas accuses Israel of “holocausts’

Israeli and German leaders expressed shock and outrage over Palestinian Authority’s Mahmoud Abbas’ charge against Israel of committing “50 holocausts” against the Palestinian people,  at a joint news conference on Tuesday with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. PM Yair Lapid accused Abbas of telling “a monstrous lie,” while Scholz voiced disgust, declaring, “For us Germans in particular, any relativization of the singularity of the Holocaust is intolerable and unacceptable.” The chancellor also took exception to the term “apartheid” used by Abbas in reference to Israel’s policy.
