Habad rabbi critically injured by terrorist gunman in Dagestan

Rabbi Ovadia Isikoff, Jewish community leader of Derbent, Russia’s southernmost city in Dagestan, was shot in the chest by a gunman as he left his car outside his home. Doctors in the local hospital are fighting for the rabbi’s life. The gunman is hunted by local police. DEBKAfile: Al Qaeda, the prevalent terrorist group in Dagestan, is suspected of the attack. The rabbi was later flown to a hospital in Jerusalem where his condition is still diagnosed as critical.
