Head of Syrian first lady’s bodyguards assassinated, rebels claim

A Syrian rebel group claimed on Thursday that a secret unit operating in Damascus had killed Colonel Hussam Aboud Shalish, head of the bodyguard unit protecting Asma Assad, the wife of President Bashar Assad. The unit has been operating in the capital for several months with a purpose of assassinating important figures from the regime.
