Iran plays down “Incident” at Natanz nuclear enrichment site

The “incident” was said to have occurred at an “industrial shed” under construction at Natanz, Iran’s largest enrichment facility, located south of Tehran. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Behrouz Kamalyandi said on Thursday that there was no effect on the facility’s centrifuge operations or any release of radiation. The governor of Natanz city called the incident a fire. Six days ago, a mysterious explosion occurred near the sensitive military site of Parchin east of Tehran, where Iran is believed to locate missile production factories and a tunnel network. Iran claimed that the huge explosion there was caused by “leaking gas tanks.”
