ISIS ambush kills Iraqi brigadier and three staff officers
In a grave setback for the Iraqi army, an ISIS suicide bomber ambushed a convoy of Humvees north of Fallujah in an explosives-laden truck. The terrorists then opened fire, killing Brig. Gen. Hassan Abbas Toufan, commander of the Iraqi 1st Division, and three of his staff, a colonel and two lieutenant colonels in the Nadhem al-Taqseem region. The soldiers' casualties were not reported. This division is fighting to re-take the western Anbar province from the Islamist terrorists, with heavy battles focused on Ramadi, 130 km from Baghdad.
