John Kerry arrives with proposed US peace framework
Sources in the Israeli prime minister’s office said the pressure the US was bringing to bear on Israel for concessions was unfair, especially the threat of a European boycott, and disproportionately greater that US demands of the Palestinians. These remarks came as US Secretary of State John Kerry prepared to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem Thursday afternoon and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah Friday. He has come to pitch his framework proposal to the parties, as first outlined by DEBKAfile on Dec. 31.. A State Department official said that Kerry does not expect a breakthrough on this trip, his 12th.
