Malaysian airliner search gains new momentum

Australian officials confirmed Wednesday that “materials washed ashore” near the Australian town of Augusta were being examined and sent to Malaysian officials to determine if they were debris from the missing Malaysian airliner. Augusta is on the southwest Australian coast, 1,000 miles from the search area.
