May fends off leadership challenge by firing two aides

Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill, two of British Prime Minister Theresa May’s senior advisers.resigned Saturday following her Conservative party’s failure to win a majority in Thursday’s election. By sacking them, she gained a respite from party recriminations and a challenge to her leadership. After stating she will stay as prime minister, May is beginning formal talks with the Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionists for support in parliament.
