Netanyahu announces early elections

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called a snap general  election in three months. After failing to gain his coalition partners' approval of what he called "a responsible budget" Netanyahu explained he decided that increasing the deficit was a non-option, especially when the country faces the top priority of stopping Iran gaining a nuclear bomb. An early election would therefore take place in January 2013.
