New covid infection highest in 7 days,  also 379,000 vaccinations

The Health Ministry counted 3,498 new covid cases on Sunday – 4,9pc positive out of nearly 73,000 tests, the highest rates in a week. Serious cases climbed again to 590 with 144 supported by ventilators. Six more deaths in 24 hours raised the mortality total to 3,226. The coronavirus vaccination campaign, fighting hard o catch up with covid contagion figures, scored 379,000 jabs in the first eight days of the program. With crowds jampacking the sick funds’ inoculation centers, hospitals were enlisted on Monday to share the burden and another 150 vaccination stations are planned to open up across the country. If the current popular rush for vaccinations persists, and the program runs 24/7, PM Binyamin Netanyahu’s goal of 150,000 shots a day and four and-a-half million in 30 days may be realistic.
