Syrian rebels report bombing Assad’s palace

The rebel Deraa Brigade fighting in the Damascus area claimed to have blitzed Bashar Assad’s presidential palace and international airport in the Syrian capital. Syrian spokesman deny this report but witnesses report seeing plumes of smoke over central Damascus. DEBKAfile: If the claim is true, it would the rebels’ first success in hitting two major regime targets which hitherto eluded them.
