Tillerson: Trump weighs impact on peace of embassy move to Jerusalem
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a NBC interview that President Donald Trump is being "very measured" on how he approaches the decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He is listening to input from all the interested parties in the region with a view to understanding its impact in the context of a peace initiative. “Most certainly Israel's view on whether Israel views it as being helpful to a peace initiative or perhaps a distraction," Tillerson added.” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s Office said in response to the Tillerson comment Sunday: "The transfer of the American Embassy to Jerusalem not only will not harm the peace process, but the opposite. It will advance (the process) by correcting a historic injustice and by smashing the Palestinian fantasy that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel," it added.
