US and Japan deploy 14,000 servicemen and warships for joint naval drill

 In a show of force for North Korea, the US and Japan launched a 10-day naval drill Thursday in waters surrounding Okinawa in southern Japan. Taking part are some 14,000 US servicemen, aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan and the guided-missile destroyers USS Stethem, USS Chafee and USS Mustin, among others. South Korea which opposes military moves in the face of the North Korean threat,  cancelled its participation in the drill.
