US Marine-Syrian rebel exercise ends in eastern Syria

A live-fire drill held last week at the Al-Tanf base by American marines and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Army and Maghawir al Thawra groups ended Friday. Hundreds of Marines were deployed to the base, which sits athwart the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian borders in eastern Syria. They took part in the exercise whose goal a US military spokesman defined as “a show of force.”
