Zelensky says Russian bombing must stop before meaningful talks

After heavy Russian bombardment of the TV tower in central Kyiv and local government in Kharkiv, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday, Day 6 of the Russian invasion that, at least, the bombing must stop before meaningful talks on a ceasefire could start. A second round of the stalled negotiations was scheduled for Wednesday after the first session on Monday made scant progress. Zelenskyy, who has refused offers to leave the Ukrainian capital as Russian forces advanced, also said Ukraine would demand legally binding security guarantees if NATO shut the door on Ukraine’s membership prospects.
