High schools reopen despite high 3.3pc covid contagion rate
High schools reopen Sunday albeit for only two days a week although the overall level of contagion climbed on Saturday to 3.3pc, almost triple the recent average. The Health Ministry also agreed to continue the one-week pilot plan for reopening 15 sample shopping malls and markets, despite the uncontrolled crowding that occurred at the Black Friday and Saturday night sales. The ministry promised more efficient monitoring of the human traffic.
Another 569 coronavirus cases were registered on Saturday, while 273 were reported in serious shape and 112 on respirators. Covid has claimed 2,854 Israeli deaths since it erupted.
