Trump slams Biden in acceptance speech, vaunts recognition of Jerusalem

President Donald Trump accepted the Republican party’s presidential nomination on the last night of the party convention, warning that his rival Joe Biden would, if elected, “demolish the American dream.” He said the Democrats would unleash “violent anarchists” upon American cities and be the “destroyer of American greatness.”

Trump vaunted his administration’s support of Israel, including his decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. “We also recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and this month we achieved the first Middle East peace deal in 25 years,” the US president said. “Thank you to the UAE and thank you to Israel.” He then cited the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in January by a US drone: “We eliminated the world’s number one terrorist by far.”
